Serena Lin

No special training. No expensive equipment. No perfect conditions. Just five simple actions that can transform a moment, a day, a relationship.

The QUICK Five:

1. Q – Question Differently Instead of: “Do you remember…?” ✅ Try: “Tell me about…” or “What do you think of…?” Why: Opens conversation without pressure Time: 30 seconds to shift your approach

2. U – Use What’s Around Look for: • Photos on walls • Objects on tables • Scents in the air • Sounds outside Try: “This photo is interesting…” or “What a nice smell…” Time: 2 minutes to notice and comment

3. I – Include Multiple Senses Quick sensory engagement: • Hand lotion with gentle massage • Share a favorite snack • Play one familiar song • Look out window together Time: 5 minutes for sensory connection

4. C – Create Something Simple No artistic skill needed: • Fold washcloths together • Sort colorful objects • Arrange flowers in vase • Make gratitude list Time: 10 minutes of shared activity

5. K – Keep It Short and Sweet Success markers: ✓ One smile ✓ One moment of eye contact ✓ One shared experience ✓ One “thank you” Time: 15-20 minutes total visit

Today’s Action Plan:
□ Choose one person to connect with
□ Pick one QUICK action
□ Set realistic time goal
□ Focus on connection, not perfection
□ Notice what works

Remember: Small actions create ripples. Your willingness to try matters more than getting it “right.” Starting is the hardest part. Once you begin, connection finds a way.
